Today I went to my dentist to clean my teeth. I think I’m one of his funniest patients.
He laughs loudly when he covers my face with paper towel.
It’s very common for dentists in Korea to cover patients’ face. They use some specially made towels for this.
When I met my dentist for the first time in Canada, I was very uncomfortable with the way he gave me scaling. Even though his assistant was busy doing suction, water was splashing all over on my face. I had to stop him in the middle of the treatment.
“Can you cover my face? I don’t like to get my make up washed away and I can’t breathe well!”
The dentist seemed to be surprised at my request at first, but soon he was laughing and a brought paper towel to cover my face.
By the time scaling is done, he usually uses 2 or 3 paper towels and all of them are fully soaked. For god sake! I can’t imagine how other people can stand this. I would feel like drowning without paper towel!
Today, he said, “Are you ok? We are going to cover your face now. He he he..”
He put the paper towel on my face as usual, and said, “Bye! See you later!”
We all laughed.
Canadian dentists’ skills are better than koreans’ for me.
Check out my blog regarding the dentist. : )
