When I took an ESL class in America, every Monday my teacher Ann usually asked what we did on the weekend. One day my classmate Thomas, a Bulgarian man told us a very funny story. He said his friends from his hometown were visiting him. He took them to a Chinese restaurant “Mandarin” for their first night’s dinner.
A waitress brought menus and placemats printed with a ring of the 12 zodiac signs.
Soon the waitress came back to take an order.
“What would you like to have?” Thomas asked his friend sitting next to him. His friend paused a little and pointed at the tiger sign from the zodiac, without looking at the menu “eh..Tiger”
He confused the zodiac sign with the menu!
When I thought about the short frustrating period when he had to choose one dish from a dozen kinds of animals which are normally unfamiliar for eating, I couldn’t help laughing and laughing.
