Hi everybody! I can’t wait to share this exciting story with you! My reader Brian reached out to me on Facebook a while ago and told me how he used some of my recipes at his wedding reception.

Rather than hire a caterer they had a big Korean BBQ feast where every table grilled their own meat and ate and drank together. What a great idea! Not only did he save some dollars but also he served an incredibly hearty and delicious dish to his beloved family and friends and gave them a great chance to enjoy the reception in beautiful weather over delicious Korean BBQ.

If you have any special event coming this spring or summer, this is a great idea for a fun party. The most fun part is that his guests got to know each other while they cooked and ate, and then after the reception the grill plate and gas burner on each table were presented to some of the guests as gifts! I can guess those guests made Korean BBQ for their own friends and family when they got back home!

He explained the wedding reception to me in a private message:

Thank you so much for making these videos. I’ve learned so much about cooking from you and you really made our day so special. We ended up pulling off the whole meal for less than what catering would have cost us, including buying the burners and plates, as well as making a ton of bulgogi (beef BBQ), samgyupsal-gui (grilled pork belly), and brisket. Your kimchi recipe made for a great side dish and we made a version of your ssamjang (dipping sauce) with gluten-free doenjang (soybean paste) and gochujang (chili pepper paste).

The whole meal was gluten free, and we used your king oyster mushroom substitution for our vegan guest. This left her husband with a whole table’s worth of meat all to himself! We also gave away the burners and BBQ grill plates as gifts to our guests!

This looks like an amazing party and I am disappointed not to have experienced it. Awesome.
