LA Meetup

By Maangchi

Hi, Californians!
I’m visiting my mother in LA soon, so I’m planning for a meetup between Feb 15-20. If you want to join, please email me at maangchi@gmail.com and let me know your preferable meeting date, time, and place, as well as your name and phone number. Don’t worry, I won’t give this information to anyone else, it’ll just help me organize the meetup.

I prefer to meet at a restaurant in Garden Grove, because there are many great Korean restaurants there. After I know how many people will come I’ll email you know the final decision.

I’m planning to film our meeting and post it on my website later, so anybody who wants to volunteer to be a cameraman/woman will be appreciated! Or if anyone has a house to host us so we can meet and cook some Korean food would also be fun.

Ooh whoo! I’m already looking forward seeing you guys!

I just started reading your blogs! I hope you come back to L.A. (or… should I say O.C.??!!! haha) again! I’d love to meet you!!! Have you tried shikdorak in garden grove? It’s pretty popular. oh yea, and gilmok in cerritos.. I always wondered how they made the dongchimi gooksoo. (wako) ggooldwehji in koreatown (they have one in buena park too in OC) is pretty cool too. and also hamjibak in koreatown. they’re famous for their spicy bbq pork ribs.

    request:
    -korean bbq pork ribs (spicy)
    -dongchimi gooksoo

Hope to see u soon! and thanks again!

    Maria,
    next time! : )

    Chelsie Ahn,
omg, Paul is your cousin? He filmed this video! Say hello to him for me! Next time if I have another Meetup in LA, I hope you can come with Paul! I’m going to make some sweet thing for you then. I started cooking since I was an elementary student, so I’m not surprised to hear that you enjoy cooking! Be careful when you use your knife though. Nice meeting you!

    Hi Maangchi…

It’s my first time to post a comment. My cousin,Paul Whang, showed me this website. Paul oppa said that he’s been to the L.A. Meetup. I’m only 11 years old, but I really enjoy cooking. I enjoy looking at how you make yummy Korean food. ^_^ Thank you for the videos.

I loove your cooking, especially the crunchy sticky peanut wings? XD
For the next meetup, you should make a video on youtube, more people will respond.

    Maangchi! Annyong ha shimnikka!!

First I’d love to say that I am a new fan of yours! I am so upset at myself for taking so long to discover your site. :(

We’re Americans and moved to Seoul in 2007 and since then I’ve been trying to find a good site with awesome recipes. Thank you for your time and wonderful recipes! The videos help so much. I found your site by searching for bulgogi jungol. I plan on making it in the next couple of days and will send you a picture of how it turned out. I love that dish!

Well, I hope you’re having a wonderful trip and catching up with friends.

    Many Thanks!

    Elsijean,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback!
I had a great time with you guys last night, too.

I thought you said “good-bye” , didn’t you? We were the last customer group in the restaurant. Ah, 2 more people came late. I’m not sure if you saw them or not. I am sure Cynthia and Karen have read this message.

Nice meeting you and your friend!

    Hi Maangchi,

    LA Dinner Feb 16, 2009

It was a pleasure to meet you and to meet others who share a love of your korean cooking videos, recipes and enthusiasm.

I apologize to Cynthia and Karen for not saying good-by properly. I realized after I got home that I had not said good bye to each of these lovely and kind dinner companions properly in my haste to leave and get some rest for the next day.

I hope that you will continue to be as warm and welcoming as you have always been. I am looking forward to trying out more of your delicious recipes.

    Huggles,

    ElsiJean

Too bad you’re not staying a bit longer in LA, we would have gone down to see you! Next time?

We’ll be in NY in the beginning of June for a wedding, hope there will be another meetup in NY around this time?
