Hello everybody!

Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.

So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZVGqgp5RZM

Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.

Korean cooking startup kit

Korean cooking startup kit

The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. So please, when you register for my website to leave a comment, make sure you use a current email! And be sure to check your email around that time!

The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.

So, good luck to you! I hope you win!

Update Dec 23, 2011 – The contest is now closed, and the winners have been announced. Thank you for entering!

I have learned how to cook so many Korean foods through your blog and I can now impress my Korean friends with the knowledge garnered from your site. Unfortunately I go to college (Cornell University) in a place that does not have a large Korean market which makes it hard to find the proper ingredients to make Korean dishes. I hope that I will win, but even if I don’t I still enjoy trying new recipes. Thanks for being an amazing woman and an inspiration! ^-^

I am a Canadian born Korean and have lost my voice for the language but not my appetite. Where I live I can’t find the proper ingredients to cook my heritage but when I visit the nearby city I go nuts! Maangchi has helped me reconnect to my childhood adding new flavours and I’m loving every minute of it! My favourite dish is naengmyuen and bibimbap.

I have just started taking in Cooking as a hobby and I have a great passion for it now. I have been taking cooking seriously now for a few months and I am also signing up for some classes at my school. I love my Asian heritage and I adore the culture; especially their food! I found your videos on youtube and love the way you showcase the Korean food dishes and would love to try them for myself given this chance. Thank you for this opportunity to widen my knowledge of Asian culture and the culinary arts.

WOW! WOW! WOW! I’m so inspired by your youtube channel! I have always wanted to make, cook, and eat Korean home-made cuisine. One day I decided to search for “kalbi jjim” a korean braised short beef ribs on youtube because I wanted to learn how to make and cook the dish. The first youtube video I watched wasn’t enough for me. All of a sudden I clicked on your youtube channels and I didn’t want to leave all the videos. It almost feel like you were right in my own kitchen cooking with me. Like you mentioned that home-made Korean cuisine is the best because I have accomplished something that I have always dreamed about is making and cooking my own Korean cuisine. I should probably post all of my photos so all the fans can see what I’m making and cooking at home as well. I’m so proud of myself. I love your sense of humor! I hope to meet and cook with you someday. In addition, this is such a great opportunity that you are willing to give away this prize to your fans. It shows that you appreciate our support in your business. Another great step to be successful in your business. Walkinlove!!! :)

    Hallo Maangchi =)
I found your website last month while looking for recipes for butternut squash. I made Hobakjuk and fell in love with it! It was fun making rice balls. I love how all of your recipes are very descriptive. This has become one of my favourite cooking sites to follow (or drool over the pictures) and I’ve slowly started to make more nummy Korean recipes. Thank you sooo much for making a site like this =3

Love your recipes and videos Maangchi. Have made your Easy Kimchi, and am expecting a couple of stone bowls so I can give Bibimbop a try. I used to love ordering Bibimbop or a Bulgogi Lunchbox at the delightful Korean restaurant in Princeton before I retired from the University. My good friend, Prof. Gwee-sook Kim and I frequently went there, and when she and her hubby went to the Korean Market she always brought me a jar of Kimchi. I missed that here near Pittsburgh where I retired to, so figured I’d better learn how to make Korean dishes myself. And you, Maangchi have been a terrific help in this regard. Keep on cooking and sharing how with us learners!

Absolutely love your recipes and videos! Fell in love with korean food at 18 when I lived in Louisiana at Fort Polk, lots of korean wives in the area at that time. My Husband also lived in Korea for a year in late 90’s loved learning to cook his favorite dishes with the help of your videos….hope to win the starter kit….but if not…..will continue to hunt down ingredients.
    love your site!
