This week our Korean food fan is Joplin Pohsngap from India! Check out the lovely photo she took with her husband and her daughter. They all look so happy, and the 3 faces are kind of connected to make a triangle. : )
I was curious about her daughter’s favorite dish, out of all the dishes her mom makes. Joplin said: “She is only 10 month old now. So no favorites yet.” with an emoticon of smile.
I was also curious if there are any Korean grocery stores in her area, because according to the shopping section on my website there are only several Korean grocery stores in India. She said there are no Korean stores in her area but she gets some Korean ingredients in a local supermarket and she has to substitute the rest with whatever is available.
I think many of my readers will do the same thing as Joplin does. You modify some ingredients with something available in your local store or market. I wish that someday all grocery stores will stock Korean ingredients so that my readers can make any authentic style Korean dish they want. Maybe one day!

I’m Joplin Pohsngap. I live in Bengaluru, India.
Tell me about the first time you ever tasted Korean food. Where were you, and what did you eat?
I was on a date with my husband, boyfriend at the time. We were in Bengaluru, India and went to a Korean restaurant named “Hi Seoul.” We ate Gimbap, Nakji Bokkeum (Spicy stir-fried octopus & vegetables), and Bulgogi. Love all of it but can never get enough Nakji Bokkeum. We eat it every time we visit the restaurant :)
How often do you cook Korean food?
Since me and my husband love Korean food a lot, so I try making it every week, especially your side dishes (spicy cucumber mostly).
What are your 3 favorite Korean dishes?
1.Soegogi Mujuk (Beef & radish soup)
2.Dakgangjeong (Sweet & crunchy Korean fried chicken)
3. Bibimguksu (spicy mixed noodles)
What’s your best Korean dish, the one that everybody compliments you on?
Bibimguksu would be my best. Made it first time last Saturday and we loved it.
