Tell me about the first time you ever tasted Korean food. Where were you, and what did you eat?
- I was in my early twenties and my mother was a big fan of “Jewel In The Palace.” At the same time, my dad’s golf buddies were Korean and introduced him to Korean food. They both decided to bring me to a local restaurant and the first dish I tried was Soondubu Jjigae. I’ve fallen in love with Korean cuisine ever since.
How often do you cook Korean food following my recipes?
- Maangchi’s recipes helped me make the transition to vegetarian cuisine much easier with all of her namul recipes. Whenever I feel like eating healthy and cheap, I follow her recipes. Korean vegetarian food has contributed greatly to my health goals.

-Oh no, I don’t even know where to start. But after a lot of thinking, I’d have to say my top 3 are:
Soondubu Jjigae, Sukjunamul, and Dubu Buchim Yangnyumjang (Pan-fried tofu with seasoning sauce)
