This time our Korean Food Fan is Viktoria who lives in Sakhalin, Russia! I had learned about Sakhalin in school, but I’ve never met anyone from there. Viktoria is the first Russian to be featured as a Korean food fan, so it’s nice to meet her and I’m happy to hear that she’s preserving her Korean heritage through cooking Korean food. I’d love to go to Sakhalin someday to taste their octopus and sea urchin!

Tell me about the first time you ever tasted Korean food. Where were you, and what did you eat?
As a Korean living in Russia, I have been familiar with Korean food since childhood. I’m living near the sea, so fresh seafood like octopus and diverse fish is always available. I like dishes such as: samgeopsal gui (grilled pork belly), bulgogi, mak kimchi, kkaenip-kimchi and more. Korean food is brilliantly simple to make and very tasty!
How often do you cook Korean food following my recipes?
Through your website, I often cook Korean dishes. Many thanks to you Maangchi! I used to cook meals Russian and Korean, but now more Korean! I have a lot of traditional Russian recipes that I can share. There are dishes for vegetarians.
