Comforting Spicy Fish Soup

After watching an episode of Family Outing, I made Maangchi’s maeuntang, or spicy fish soup, for a really comforting dinner. I couldn’t find the red snapper so I just substituted it with whatever fresh and beautiful fish I could find at the fishmongers – this is gilthead bream, which is supposedly considered sacred to Aphrodite lol. I don’t eat shellfish plus an entire fish is surely enough food for one meal so I just cut out the shellfish, though the shellfish Maangchi used would definitely make the broth even more amazing!

Overall this soup is amazing! It’s not over the top spicy and you could taste the sweetness of the fish. The soup base with the mushrooms and radishes is so so yummy! This meal made me so happy on a rainy dreary day :)
