WD Smoke BBQ in the H-Mart shopping plaza is also very good. I love there Nakji Bokkeum with Somen and the Soondae Bokkeum.

Chicken House Restaurant has good Dakgalbi.

Tree House Restaurant off Royal used to be good. But the last two times were not even close to the same.

Korea House on Royal has always been good but expensive.

Hi Alison!
I live in Denton too! I actually go to TWU! Czen is a small korean restaurant located in Denton and VERY CLOSE TO UNT (408 N Texas Blvd
Denton, TX 76201). It's kind of hard to find but worth the trip. They're actually a franchise of Czen in Hmart grocery store. The food is pretty good and affordable for the student budget! There are other places in Carrollton that are pretty good but I'll have to get the names of them from friends.

Hope it helps!

Howdy!

I was looking for Korean restaurants in North Texas and figured looking around the local H-Mart would be the best bet. I was right! I found Omi Korean Bar and Grill (2625 Old Denton Road Suite 326, Carrollton, TX 75007) and it is AMAZING! After living in South Korea for 6 months, I am very picky about my Korean food since it's so much more expensive here.

Omi is quite a large restaurant compared to the mom-and-pop shops i'm used to. It has a very diverse menu with great stews (best soondubujiggae i've ever had!) and ALL YOU CAN EAT korean bbq! For only $20 you can have unlimited bbq from samgyeopsal to LA Kalbi (definitely get this!) to chicken to many others that you cook at your own table. They also serve it with traditional egg dish and soup and a TON of amazing side-dishes (8+ sidedishes!)The only catch is your entire table has to order the bbq to get the deal.

I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the DFW area and especially to those who live close to the H-Mart. The staff is very helpful and kind and will help you with the bbq if you are a first-timer. The other dishes are around $8-12, which is expected for this quality and location.

I recently moved to Denton close to UNT campus. If anyone knows of any good Korean restaurants nearby please let me know!

Thanks!
Alison

I've only been to a couple of Korean restaurants, but I really enjoy the food at Shila's. The banchan are always fresh and colorful, and the meat is tender and well seasoned. I usually go for dinner, and its pleasantly busy, but I've never had to wait for a table. The waitstaff is polite and prompt, and they have a good sense of timing.
If anyone is interested, its at the corner of Santa Fe Dr and Yadkin Rd. (right next to Sun Market, which is a nice Korean grocery store)

The only authentic Korean restaurant in The Hague, owned and run by a nice Korean family. They have a simple selection of six BBQ courses to choose from, which includes bulgogi, galbi, spicy pork & chicken, and marinated shrimp. All the main grilled entrees come with a pajun, soup, banchan, lettuce, kimchee and rice. At prices between around 15-18 euro for each menu, it's a pretty good deal considering that they refill everything (except the meat). My favorite is the shrimp, but the marinade for the bulgogi is also delicious. My husband loves the spicy pork. The kimchee is homemade and also very yummy.
They also have bibimbap, dwenjang-jigae (amazing!), mae-un tang, and seafood pajun on the menu, but they can make other things by request such as japchae, golbengi, or ddukbokki.

Overall it's a great (and only) place to get your Korean food fix in town, the decor is very cozy and not a bad place to take a date. The only thing is you should definitely make a reservation because there aren't a lot of tables! Also there's usually only one person waiting tables, so if it's busy be prepared to wait a little for things like drinks (food can arrive first). And bring cash, they also take credit cards but NOT debit/pincards.

This is our most frequented Korean restaurant. It is located in the shopping center with a Super Hmart, a very large Korean/asian grocery store. The stew here are fantastic and they also have indoor bbq for those of you who enjoy cooking your meat at the table. Sushi also available as well. We enjoy a nice lunch or dinner here before we hit the market to stock up on Korean banchan.

There's an awesome place right in NE Mpls, its located inside of a korean grocery store so no one really knows its there, They have about 12 different dishes you can order and each dish has a picture displayed on a wall lit menu.. everything is very delicious! Its called Dong Yang market, right off 45th and Central ave, its connected to an Ace hardware store- i know sounds weird. The Grocery store is pretty big and ive been able to find every ingredient that ive needed, they also have a wide variety of frozen seafood and cook wear. they have a local all natural kim chee that they sell which i highly reccomend, I buy a jar every time im there. As for the dining area, it is limited tables but a spot usually opens pretty quick and its definitly worth the wait!

Thanks for the review, I'd agree with you, too. I would also like to add another restaurant, Sole Cafe (Traditional Korean Restaurant) off of Snelling Avenue, too. I have to say this is a small cafe, but the food are so delicious. It's like a rare gem, you have to look for it to find it. This one is my favorite Korean restaurant because the food is authentic, and the chef is so accommodating. She always come out to check and make sure that I am satisfied. The price is also high, but the portion are generous. They restock sides, and all the dishes I've ate there have been quite a different satisfaction. My favorites are their bulgogi entrees, bibimbapm, and chapchae...=)

Hi there Jason!!!!
I`m Schedy Z from Mexico although my username goes by Myeongwol. Like you i don´t have Korean heritage however i´m fond of Korea´s culture, history and food!!!
It´s great to have Maagnchi with us, thanks to her i´m able to learn about Korea´s delicious meals. I´ve been visiting this site for a few weeks and everytime i visit i find lots of interesting recepies to try. Sadly, i can not make as much as i want it to do because of the ingredients, so i try to improve a little bit.
I´m also a k-drama fan!!!! About k`-pop...i´m still in diapers (i only know by the OST of the k-dramas i´ve watched...my favorite is Mickey Yoo Chun). I´m glad to meet you.

Hello Everyone!

What an exciting and informative site this is! I'm learning so much from Maangchi-noona and from the knowledgable and super nice users like you all!

I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and while I'm not Korean by heritage, I've fallen in love with Korean cooking and Korean music (K-pop!).

A good friend of mine introduced me to Korean food a few years ago... back then, I never even considered eating Korean because I never liked spicy food. But I went, and I had my first bibimbap with gochujang... I downed the gochujang like ketchup and ended up finishing half the bottle!

That was three years ago... now, I eat spicy food with gusto (all thanks to Korean food grooming me), and I'm starting to make my own Korean food! I hope to master making kimbap, seafood pancake, and garlic potatoes one day, but for now, I'll stick with the tried and true!

Until next time!

~Jason

PS. If anyone wants to talk about K-pop with me, hit me up! I LOOOOVVEEE K-pop!!!! (Favourite groups and singers, you ask? Big Bang, 2NE1, DBSK/TVXQ, Son Dambi, T-Ara, f(x), BoA, Davichi... it goes on and on!) I always put on my K-pop list when I'm making Korean food... it just gets me that much more hungry!

its right on campus of University of Minnesota on OAK STREET. its a little building so you might miss it.
the restaurant is under a Karaoke too all owned by korean owners ^^.
the food there is reallly good. for those who can't seem to find korean food.
price is decent up to 20 bux usually on seafood dishes. but they have lunch specials for 6.99 if i remembered correctly if not at least 7.99.
Their menu is limited maybe about 15 dishes. and appetizers are priced as an entree but they are still good
Out of minneapolis or saint paul area i love their Kimbap the best. i have yet to try Hoban's food.
the atmosphere is very korean like. Like most korean places you get refills on banchan, and it use to be self serve but now they take care of it for banchan. you pick up your order yourself and you return ur tray as well. its like what you see on korean dramas LOL.

bibimbap, kalibi, bulgogi, dolsot bibimbap, and kalitang are what i usually order and they are AWESOME.
the banchan's here vary on what you order and you get about 5-6 banchans

ANother korean restaurant on campus is TOFU HOUSE.
its on the same street but crosses another street.
it's Really small but cozy and you can see the condensation inside when its cold outside. it reminds me of those little shops in korean dramas as well.
as you can see their main speciality is Tofu soups with different ingrediants like seafood or beef and they have about 5-10 other dishes besides the soup.
they have up to maybe 15 soups? but i was there only 2 times. My boyfriend really loves that place and one day with maangchi's receipe i can make it for him. They have small size and the largest size they have for soups and they are usually the cheapest dishes on the menu. Dishes like Kalibi and bibimbap are really expensive there but it makes sense. they also have a menu set with the soup and a korean dish. the owners there are really nice.

Another korean place is: MIRRORS of KOREA - st. paul, snelling ave
kinda pricey place but its worth the money you pay because they give you big portions and you get up to 10 banchans no matter what you order and the waiter there is AWESOME he use to work at this one korean restaurant that closed (*it was the best korean place i went to my freshman year called YUMMY YUMMY* that was on campus in minneapolis) and he remembered me and one of my friend that visited often. great atmosphere and modern and family friendly. they play korean music in the background so if you're a korean music fanatic you'll recognize the songs immediately. they have a wider menu than Korea Cafe.

Lunch Buffet Korean & Sushi - St. Paul, Snelling AVE
this place was a let down but it was just typical korean food buffet style.
not a lot of variety but lots of banchan dishes. the sushi there was buffet style so nothing extravagant. for my opinion it was a waste of money for what they have out there as buffet. My boyfriend loves to eat food and even he was disappointed i think we'll stay away from korean buffets for now lol.

DONG YANG ORIENTAL FOOD - Hiltop/FRIDLEY
this place is AMAZING the food taste so authentic and you can see them make it in front of your eyes. i like places like a grocery store and they have their own little restaurant. I've only ate there once but it left a big impression on me because i ate with such great people and korean natives so i trust their judgement.
although nothing beats homecook meals, and i have heard from many korean natives that this was their favorite place for cooked food and grocerys.

*a case of strawberry milkis is soooooooooooo CHEAP!!!

There is a small Korean food place in Citifield next time you go to the Mets game. We always get the Korean fried chicken (spicy, although they offer non spicy too). It's decent. It woudn't stand up to BonChon or KyoChon, but they are decent considering they have no competition. They also have a banchan/namul bar and will give you a bowl of rice and allow you to chose the banchan, kind of like bimbimbap. This is my assumption since I've never ordered it but it looks good. This is basically the healthy option. However, I suggest you just get two large orders of the chicken, extra spicy and lots of beer. If you are nice to the lady she might feel inclined to give you some samples of from the banchan/namul bar. This only happened to me once but it was very nice of her. There may be some other options (I'm thinking bul go ki dup bap, but I can't remember). Suffice it to say, there will be something to eat while you watch the Mets. It's also better than food offered in chamshil stadium when we went to see the Twins. They ran out of hot dogs and all the food came from GS25 or other chain restaurants.

I've been to this restaurant a few times and it's a very good restaurant for Korean food. May not be the best for some but I really like it. They have a good selection of Korean dishes mainly the major ones. The appetisers are also delicious. I've tried the Mandoo, CCC, Kimchi Pancake and Jap Chae. The first time I was there I got a special chopstick and spoon kit with their business card. They have a bar with Soju cocktails. I've had a few of their main courses. I've had Spicy chicken bibimbap, Bulgogi, and their kimchi beef burrito. The Burrito is actually quite good with soy sauce and gochujang. They do accommodate vegetarians if you just ask. The nice thing about this restaurant is that it's close by to my house. I live in Rancho Bernardo and it's a good drive to get to Convoy. I've never been to the Convoy ones but have been to Zion Market. Overall I enjoy this restaurant and you should go there if you live in San Diego.
