The only authentic Korean restaurant in The Hague, owned and run by a nice Korean family. They have a simple selection of six BBQ courses to choose from, which includes bulgogi, galbi, spicy pork & chicken, and marinated shrimp. All the main grilled entrees come with a pajun, soup, banchan, lettuce, kimchee and rice. At prices between around 15-18 euro for each menu, it's a pretty good deal considering that they refill everything (except the meat). My favorite is the shrimp, but the marinade for the bulgogi is also delicious. My husband loves the spicy pork. The kimchee is homemade and also very yummy.
They also have bibimbap, dwenjang-jigae (amazing!), mae-un tang, and seafood pajun on the menu, but they can make other things by request such as japchae, golbengi, or ddukbokki.

Overall it's a great (and only) place to get your Korean food fix in town, the decor is very cozy and not a bad place to take a date. The only thing is you should definitely make a reservation because there aren't a lot of tables! Also there's usually only one person waiting tables, so if it's busy be prepared to wait a little for things like drinks (food can arrive first). And bring cash, they also take credit cards but NOT debit/pincards.

Toko Kaya in the Karel Doormanweg 6 in Amstelveen is no longer a Korean grocery shop. The restaurant next door is still a Korean restaurant, but there's an Indian grocery shop next door now.

Hi everyone!!

Just wanted to introduce myself, as I hope to be doing lots of Korean cooking, browsing around on this forum and hopefully meet new friends.

So here is a little introduction about myself: I was adopted from Korea when I was four months old. I'm currently 35 years old and live in Amsterdam with my husband and dog. I love to do all kinds of things like cooking and baking, but also crafty stuff like knitting, photography... you name it!

Though I have been making some of Maangchi's recipes in the past (Bibimbap is one of my favorites, Kimbap, Kimchi, Jangjorim), I've always felt slightly intimidated by the "I don't know if this tastes really Korean and how it is supposed to taste?". However having had the chance to meet not only Maangchi on one of her Gapshida meetups, but also the lovely Susanne and Reinier, it has sparked my desire for cooking and eating more Korean food!!

Hi there Maangchi and friends,

I just submitted another online grocery store from the Netherlands to the list. Now, I would like to add something to that; look at the recipes (recepten) posted at Koreashop.nl. They're your Youtube recipes! So I wondered why the shop was not (yet) included in the GroceryStore list, while your recipes can be viewed directly from that website.

Just wanted to let you know.

Hi Reinier, I've been to that shop, thanks for letting me know it's still around. Kurt, I've got to see that shop in Overiijse. Is it a Korean-Japanese shop? I've heard of one from Japanese friends.
Kumaxx, any info on those Aachen and Köln stores? Do you know their names or locations? I just went to both cities, if only I had known... >_<
Here in Brussels I get my Korean groceries from Kam Yuen Supermarket in the centre:
http://www.kamyuen.be/
It's pretty well stocked, although I've never found Korean metal chopsticks. Note that ddok (rice cake) has been sold now in the dried diagonally sliced form for over a year now, because the unsliced fresh cakes would spoil by the time they got on the shelves. I mzke ddokbogi once a week by just soaking the rice cakes at least 8 hours, or sometimes 24 if I put off cooking them.

Hi Pinkfuzz80,
Asiakauf is really a major let down when you try to order there.

Hi,

I live in Italy and there are no Korean shops or products in my town. I tried asiakauf.com but they never answer my emails and I haven't been able to contact them by phone. Did you just trasfer them the money and they delivered it? I went to k-mall.de but couldn't find a Korean shop there. Can you help me out? By the way, do you have a website?
I'm from Toronto Canada and recently moved to Italy. In Toronto there's a big Korean town and I used to live near there. I always used to eat Korean food. It was very good and affordable. I miss that.

Well, I grew up in the Netherlands, but am now living in Belgium for 10 years already.
I'm actually korean, but a pretty fake one.
No just kidding. I'm adopted, so korean cooking is something I had to learn from scratch.
And I have to say that you just seem to be a natural, I'm so impressed.
It took me a lot of years to get the hang of it.
My kids love korean cooking too, as long as it isn't spicy.
Those hoddeok's look delish, I have to try them soon.
Seeing you in that video just made my day.
My two heroes united, what a forcefield that must have created, lol!

Most korean grocery stores around Amsterdam are in Amsterdam/Amstelveen area

As mentioned there's
Shilla
Groot Gelderlandplein 32-34
Japanese and Korean, pretty pricy at times I prefer the other shops, but Shilla has a lot of stuff the smaller ones don't have.

Toko Kaya
Karel Doormanweg 6
1181WE
Amstelveen
Very small, but most of the basics, there's also a small restaurant attached.

Mom in the Kitchen
Kostverlorenhof 18
1183 HE Amstelveen
Bit larger then Kaya, also the option to have lunch on the upper floor. owners don't speak dutch, so either use korean or english

Hi all, within a few weeks I am moving from Rotterdam to Amsterdam. I am wondering if anybody knows good Korean grocery stores in the Amsterdam area.
Thanks in advance! :)

I visited the shop kazaraguma as well, it's a very good store which has korean and japanese stuff. However, it's very far for me (more than 150 km) so I would like to ask, are there any korean stores in the vicinity of Terneuzen, the Netherlands or Zelzate, Belgium? (which is right across the border for me). If not I'll have to buy lots and lots when I get to Rotterdam again, since it's so far away... I suppose buying online is too expensive (like 7 eur for, for example, hot pepper powder, + eur 5.50 for shipping...), but I could try that too.

Bedankt Reinier,

I saw this site a few months ago and it looks like they have a bigger variety of goods than last time. I will try, because the price looks quite ok.

Groeten uit Brugge.

Hi all,

Kitamura,

There is a shop in Overijsse on the Brusselsesteenweg next to the Mc Donald's. I used to go there and they have a nice range of Korean products. Since it's quite a drive for me (from Brugge) I order online in Germany.
http://www.asiakauf.com or http://www.k-mall.de
Once you've paid, the goods arrive in a few days on your doorstep.

Veel geluk!

if you live near the border to germany, there are large korean communities in aachen, cologne and of course dusseldorf. dusseldorf has a huge asian community and the markets are very well stocked.
