@CrAsian - Glad you got inspired by my post. When I was little, I used to make it at home all the time with a regular stainless steel spoon. For a spoon of sugar, just a pinch of baking soda is enough. Recently, I made some for my BF, and I used a large metal serving spoon and 2-3 pinches of backing soda. Make sure to leave room on the spoon, because the sugar puffs up a lot. And most importantly, you will be tempted, but don't lick the spoon! It will be HOT!!! Trust me, I know.

powerplanttop, thanks a lot for posting the video clip!

I used to buy ppopki when I was young! The video reminds me of my elementary school period! The ppokie sellers were waiting right in front of my school to wait for the students to come out.

As you see in the video, it's a very simple recipe. All you need is white sugar, baking soda, and a stainless dipper that you don't mind if it gets ruined. : ) After making the ppobki, the dipper will be stained with burn marks. I used to get yelled by my mom when I made my own ppobki at home because I ruined her brand new stainless dipper.

I will post the video recipe someday for fun! Or you can do it. : )

I Googled Dalgona and Bbopgi and came up with some interesting results. It does not seam like it needs an exact ratio. Here is a vid of some kids making it. http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/lifestyle_lifestyle/watch/v979811mNhP87SN# Looks like they melted the sugar then threw in a bit of baking soda.

This is interesting reading. http://www.seriouseats.com/2009/06/snapshots-from-south-korea-bbopgi-sugar-and-baking-soda-candy.html

My wife says she got a few free ones when she was a kid.

Does anyone know the ratio of sugar:baking soda you use for making bboki?

As seen here: http://www.bionicbites.com/2009/11/i-heart-bbopki-free-korean-breakfast-seoul/
