My last tub was over the date too for many weeks, but i didn't worry. It looked and smelled good, i think harmfull bacteria will have a hard time surviving in there.
Anyway, the beachu doenjang guk tasted great with it.

Thanks for your response! My main problem is that I won't be able to go back to the Korean super market for another 2 weeks...

Your post inspired me to go check my doenjang's expiration date. Turns out it was almost a month ago :) But it looks, smells and tastes fine so until my senses tell me otherwise, I'm going to take my chances.

However, I bought this current container nearly 7 months ago. If your doenjang was already expired when you bought it, I'd take it back to the store. It was probably sitting on the shelf for months.

So, I just bought some doenjang yesterday and I noticed today that there's an expiration date on the back (which was about a month ago). I was of the impression that soy bean paste took a while to expire... so, is this still good to eat?

Thanks!
