Hello. I bought and froze the bones. I put off making the broth. What is the recommended shelf life, please? I may have to discard them.
Thank you,
D
I think it’s about 3 months if the marrow is exposed and 6 months if you vacuum it
The recommended shelf life for frozen bones is 6 to 8 months. After that, they may start to lose their flavor and nutrition, and the broth made from them may not be as good. If you’re unsure about the age of your bones, it may be best to discard them and buy fresh bones for making your broth. To maximize the shelf life of your bones, store them in an airtight container in the freezer. When you’re ready to make your broth, thaw the bones completely before using them.
