      Hello Maangchi!

So me and my friend went to Stockholm a few weeks ago and we went to this korean restaurant and ate. One of my friends ordered 깐풍기 and I got to taste it as well and it was delicious! I’m addicted to the taste and I want more! Only problem is, I don’t know how to make it and the restaurant is 2-3 hours away!

I’d love it if you could post a 깐풍기 recipe, I’d really love you for an eternity! :D
I’m sorry if you have already posted one, It’s just that I couldn’t find it, so if you have posted one already just give me the link and I’ll love you for an eternity anyways! Haha!^^

(Love your channel and website by the way, but for some reason, I get hungry every time! Haha, I wonder why! XD)

      Hi vipnanaangel,

take this recipe: https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/tangsuyuk and use *chicken* instead of pork (which is original chinese) or beef.
That’s all. Found it on the Korean wikipedia-site, but was suspicious anyway having seen that picture – tangsuyuk is one of my specialities 30 years now ;-D …

      Bye, Sanne.

Hmmmm no. 깐풍기 and tangsuyuk are not interchangeable.
The chicken dish in question is in a sauce that’s closer to the popular chinese dish General Tso’s chicken than it is to Tangsuyuk in my opinion.

깐풍기 uses fried chicken or in many opportunities uses tempura’ed shrimp in a ginger, spicy, garlicky sauce.

Tangsuyuk tends to be a more sweet/sour pork dish without a hot element and with cucumbers and carrots as the vegetables added in the dish.

Traditional 깐풍기 looks closely to this.

It is served in Korean/Chinese restaurants that also serve Jampong and JaJangmyun. It is not classically a Korean dish but a Korean spin on Chinese food. This is why sometimes you will see these dishes at Korean restaurants and also sometimes at Chinese restaurants.

I think this recipe looks close to what you’re looking for, but I look forward to seeing Maangchi-unni’s recipe.

By the way, I just moved to Sweden from San Francisco! Near Stockholm in fact. Which restaurant did you go to that had the 깐풍기? I need to know so I can find it when I have a craving!
