I am half-Korean and originally from Hawaii. Growing up I was spoiled eating all my Ommah's good food. (Hawaii also has a lot of wonderful Korean places to eat so I never had any incentive to learn how to cook my favorite dishes myself!)
Now that I have moved clear across the country where the Korean supermarkets are very tiny, Korean restaurants are few and far between, I am finally learning how to cook Korean food with your help Maanchi. (I am also 5 months pregnant so I have have lots of Korean food cravings).
My Ommah does not use any measurements in her cooking. I am so happy that I have found authentic Korean recipes. Even though I am only introducing myself now I have already tried many of your recipes.
Some of my favorite Korean foods are:
- Bibimbap (mixed rice with veggies)
- Soondubu jjigae (spicy tofu soup)
- Naengmyeon (cold noodle soup)
- Miyuk guk (seaweed soup)
- Samgyeopsal gui (grilled pork belly)
