Oh Maangchi, my family adores you! I am half Korean and half Scottish. My Mother is from Seoul and moved to the United States in 1964 when she married my Father who was stationed there with the US Military. Growing up, my Mother taught me to make many traditional Korean dishes, but some special occasion foods have been neglected over the years.
My wonderful Mother has passed on so many Korean traditions to me and I continue with my 6 children now. The love of Korean foods is something we all share together. We have a small dedicated refrigerator just for Kimchi! It brings our family close as most of the grand children are grown now and out on their own. For family gatherings, bulgogi, daegujeon, Bibimbap, japchae, mandu, jjajangmyun and kimbap are always requested and make our time together so special. We all join in cooking and finding new things to try on your website. Your videos are a big hit with my 6 year old daughter who works right along with you in the videos!
It is now my turn to care for my Mother as she has cared for me…I enjoy surprising her with something special that she hasn't tasted in years. She reminisces about her childhood and shares stories with me. Thank you so much for helping me with these gifts.
