Hi! I fell in love with Korean food while I was in the Army stationed in Korea. I also fell in love with soju…but that’s a different story lol. The first authentic Korean dish I tried was Bulgogi. My favorite dish by far is Japchae! While I was in Korea I would also go to beef and leaf restaurants after a late night of going to clubs. I’m not sure if that’s what they’re actually called though lol. They’re a restaurant with a grill in the center of the table, they would bring out raw meat and you would cook it on the grill while consuming unhealthy amounts of soju lol.

Beef and leaf restaurant! Your description is very clear, so I know exactly what you’re talking about!
The dish is called “ross gui” (로스구이). “Ross” comes from, I guess, the English “roast” and “gui” means “grilled.” I don’t know who made this name, but it means “Korean style grilled beef.”
I posted the recipe on my website already. You can use different vegetables to wrap the cooked beef, and yes, soju or maekju (beer) will go well with the dish. https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/grilled-beef
