I will be a first-time Korean cook this week. My husband was stationed in Korea with the US Air Force for a year and came to love the food. He ate things none of the other guys would touch. He sought out the real thing, not just the Americanized version on the base, though that was good too.
He has missed the food since he came back to the States, and we can't afford to eat out a lot. So for his birthday, I am going to try to cook him a Korean feast. I am going to go easy on myself and buy pre-made kimchee this first time though, partly because I don't have time to make my own before tomorrow night.
Tackling an entirely new cuisine is intimidating, even for a basically good cook like me! I am looking forward to it, though, because now that he introduced me to Korean food, I really like it too!
I'll let you know how it goes... keep your fingers crossed for me, and if you know any Korean blessings... send them my way! ;-)
