      Hello,

I just wanted to know if anyone knows the name of this side dish and where I could find a recipe for it or if Maangchi could make a recipe video for it. I attached a picture of the side dishes I had at a Korean restaurant in Queenstown, New Zealand. The one I am looking for a recipe for is the one second from the right, the red, spicy strips looking one. It seemed like a seafood side dish, squid maybe. It was chewy, spicy, did not taste sour like it was fermented, and a little salty. I should have asked one of the staff what the dish was, but I did not, so I was hoping one of you knowledgeable people or Maangchi could let me know what the dish is called and where I could get a recipe for it.

      Thank you!

Thank you for the help. I don’t think it was that dish though because the strips were kind of translucent or clear. I have also had chinese dried squid snacks and this side dish didn’t taste like that at all. I’m thinking it might have actually been a jellyfish dish? Any ideas??

Edit: If anyone lives in the Queenstown, NZ area, the restaurant was located in a shopping centre on the second floor, I have forgotten the name of it, but maybe someone has eaten here before and had the side dish?

Jelly fish salad looks different although recipes may vary quite a bit. Let me look around a bit more and see what i can find but i think it is squid.

I know this is a little bit late but hopefully you’ll still see this :)

The side dish is indeed squid…it’s a pickled squid dish called ojingeo jut (오징어젓).

Maangchi has a version of the recipe here: https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/ojingeojeot
      Another recipe is here:
      http://koreanfood.about.com/od/fishandseafoodrecipes/r/OjinguhJut.htm

I haven’t tried either recipes and although there are some differences between the two, they both look okay to me. Alternatively, if there is a large Korean market nearby where you live, they may sell this dish pre-made along with other types of banchan.

Hope it helps! I love eating it with rice. :)
