I am worried about my one day old kimchi. I packed it in glass jars and the lids on some of the jars are popping up. Will the lids pop off or can the glass explode? Thanks
It sounds like your kimchi starts fermenting. Open the lid and press down the top of the kimchi with a spoon so that the top part of kimchi is submerged in kimchi liquid. Put your kimchi into the fridge. The lid won’t pop up anymore.
Thanks, I ended up opening the pint jars and putting the kimchi into larger quart size jars and I left about an inch or two of space from the top of the seal. Maybe I over reacted but this was the first time I ever made kimchi and I was thinking that the tops of the jar were going to come flying off!
For the batch I make I think I will leave an inch of space instead of packing the jar full of the kimchi. What do you think?
