      Hi Maangchi,

I was wondering if you (or anyone else) could share a recipe for kongnamul kimchi. At least, I think that’s what it’s called. I’m referring to the spicy soy sprout banchan. I haven’t had much luck finding a recipe. Thanks!

      Joe

      Joe,

I have never made kongnamul(soybean sprouts) kimchi , so I don’t have the recipe. But I will keep your request in mind.

Anyone else knows the recipe? If so, we appreciate it if you posted the recipe here:

This is the recipe I use. It is pretty good.

Bean Sprout Panchan (Kong Namul), Georgia’s Recipe

1 pound fresh soy bean sprouts or mung bean sprouts

      1 small carrot, shredded

      3 green onions, finely chopped

      3 garlic cloves, mashed

      1 tablespoon sesame oil

      1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted

1 tablespoon mild korean chili pepper flakes

      2 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon raw can sugar or honey

      Wash bean sprouts.

Bring a pan of lightly salted water to the boil, drop in the bean sprouts and return to the boil.

Boil for 1 minute using mung beans, boil for 5 minutes for soy beans. The sprouts should be just tender, never overcooked.

Drain at once and cool under cold water. Drain well.

Combine all other ingredients for the dressing and toss with bean sprouts.

      Chill before serving.

Here is the food from my last korean food dinner party. I made the above recipe using soy bean sprouts. It was delicious!

I’m sure that you will enjoy it.

What are you going to have with the bean sprouts?

I haven’t that far ahead unfortunately. We’ll see what I come up with.
