it has black beans & a sticky date? filling layered with white rice cake. It looks mostly like this – but with more sticky date filling.

I was searching for the same thing. Perhaps one day Maangchi will show us how to really make these in the Maangchi-style. Until then, this is the recipe I use. I attached a photo of how mine turned out. I put all the beans and jujubes in the middle, like your photo. It was mighty tasty, chewy, and it felt nourishing, not like junk food.

Thank you! I will try it. But the cake I was thinking of looks like the attached. The sticky rather than fluffy/cottony type. I think there must b a lot of recipes for this kind out there but just need recipe for that date paste that’s spread in between the layers. (Bc they make it w lots of diff flavors) I bet there’s a dduk book out there in Korea….(wrapped in plastic)
