      Hello Maangchi, and everyone else,

I really love your website, and your youtube videos on how to make all of these fantastic dishes, you are quite entertaining and funny!. I lost my mother when I was young and with her loss went all of those wonderful smells that she used to cook in the kitchen (and some of the not so wonderful ones too). I remember some of the simple recipes she used to cook, bulgoki, (I only knew this as Korean beef, before doing some research) Miyeok Guk (seaweed soup – same as the beef), kimchi pancakes, mandu. Those were my links to my childhood memories, but not quite the same as my mother made. I was bound to store bought kimchi, and seaweed soup (recreated from my memory). Then I found your website and it has provided me many many hours of inspiration and with some recent references to Korean markets in the area (my dry cleaners “Panda Cleaners”, great Korean family gave me the tips) I have been happily making my own kimchi, bulgoki, etc… and with the smells and then the joy of eating those wonderful dishes, I am swept back almost 40 years to when I was a boy. Thank you from my heart, my memories, and my stomach!.

That’s amazing that you remember all the good Korean dishes that your mom used to make for you! I wonder what your mom would think if she could see all the Korean dishes that you make these days. I’m sure she would be very proud of you.

Thank you for sharing your personal story with me and my other readers. Not only me but everyone else who reads your post will be touched.
