hi,
an asian friend of mine wanted to make pancakes and used a lot of asian ingredients. She had bought these prepacked rice cake blocks, which she cut in half and threw into the pancake mixture with kimchi, vegetables and dried shrimps and whatnot. The pancakes were really delecious with the cakes melted and very chewy.
Since I dont like to use prefabricated stuff and prefer to make it myself, I’d like to know if it’s ok to form little rice cake blocks similar to the rice balls in Maangchi’s “Butternut squash porridge / hobakjuk”. They wont have the same texture, since the blocks from the supermarket are really stone-hard and Maangchi’s are soft.
Do you guys think the handmade cakes will still work in pancakes?
