Hi Maangchi! Thank you SO much for your website and videos. I plan on trying to make dduk (gyungdan & songpyeon) this weekend for my father-in-law’s birthday. Your videos make it so much less intimidating for me to try and learn new dishes. =)

I was wondering what you could tell me about making the big white round dduk cake that people usually get for their birthdays. And what do they use to spell out the Korean letters? Here is the link to a picture of the cake: http://i38.tinypic.com/27yu6br.jpg(from my daughter’s 100th day). 27yu6br.jpg

Any chance that you will be doing a video of it at some point this year?

      Thanks so much!

      Hi,

The white ddeok is called “Baeksulgi”(백설기). The main ingredients are rice powder, sugar, and water! It’s very simple, but you will have to make some efforts to make good

baeksulgi ddeok. It’s one of my upcoming video recipes. Please wait until I post it. Thank you very much.
