hi,am from Cebu,Philippines,is there anybody that could tell me if there are groceries or stores that sales korean ingredients?
There are so many Koreans in my hometown but mostly couldn't speak English and I happen to stumble upon these very interesting Korean culinary by Maangchi but am in great quandary where to purchase the ingredients , it's a great pleasure in my behalf if someone out there could guide me please.

I found some Korean grocery stores in Singapore on the internet

Well, i tried making the kimchi with the cabbage but instead of using pepper powder i used a lot of fresh small red pepper for there is abundancy of that here in my place.
Indeed these peppers are so spicy,that small quantity of these are so hot,but i followed every inch of the recipe, the only variation there is,it's being localized using every available ingredients that are akin almost to Korean ingredients.
I will be tasting it tomorow to find out what happens to the variations of the ingredients,see if it will exactly or nearly be likely tasty as you make it Maangchi.
Will let you know what difference there is so you send me some advices.

if you'd be able to contact CPILS(Cebu Peoples International Language School} situated in M.J. Cuenco St.,Cebu,Philippines,they are all Koreans here, see if you could inquire from them where to find ingredients,after all you can speak to them in Korean.
somehow they have probably found some good supermarkets that sells Korean ingredients.Kindly facilaitate this for me am dying to try cook some of your very interesting recipes.

Hi All,
To those who will like to know where the Korean grocery stores are located in Kuala Lumpur, there is a Korea Town at Ampang KL. With the exception of 2 Middle Eastern shops, all shops are Korean; grocery stores, restaurants, hair saloons and even a church! :) You can get all sorts of Korean food ingredients which Maangchi have mentioned here. FYI, most of the shops are closed on Sundays.
Grocery stores are mainly located at Jalan Ampang Utama 1/1, One Ampang Avenue 68000 Ampang. The ones I went to were Phill Mart, Lotte Mart and Korea Mart. Here are the directions to get there (from KL city):
Follow Jalan Tun Razak (south)-you will see KLCC on your left, US Embassy on right-turn right at Nikko Hotel junction and you'll be on Jalan Ampang-French embassy on left and China embassy on right-go straight for about 15 to 20 mins-along the way you'll see Great Eastern Mall and Gleneagles Hospital-when you see a flyover, go up the flyover-you will see Ampang Point on your left-after Ampang Point, turn left at the traffic lights-and voila, you'll be in Korea Town! :)
