I am introducing you to Joyce Yu, who loves my recipes. After exchanging a few emails, I realize she’s such an avid cook. When you check her photo gallery, you will see so many photos of delicious dishes that she has tried out.

If I didn’t run my Korean cooking website, I would probably do the same thing as she’s doing! I would like to follow some people’s recipes no matter what cultures they come
from and see and check if it really works or not.

Joyce came to my cooking world through my podcast! She found my recipes in August, 2008.

Nowdays whenever I post a new recipe on podcast, she is updated through her tiny phone.

Let’s meet Joyce!

Joyce made her own blog!

What is your name and where do you live?
My name is Joyce Yu. I was born in Manila (Philippines) and I now live in Irvine, California.

What do you do and how many family members do you have?

I am with my husband (Bok) and our 5-year-old daughter (Jade) Check Jade’s first piano recital (Feb. 2010). I am an Urban Planner by profession but since we had our daughter years ago, I dedicated myself on becoming a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) but started my own home-based Travel Agency in January 2008.

When did you find my website?
I found your videos when I was researching for Podcasts for my iPod.  That was around August of 2008.  Since then, I got hooked up with your Videos and I have it on my phone and it automatically updates everytime you have a new recipe ;-)

How often do you cook Korean food following my recipes?
I cook at least 1-3 korean recipes (mostly from your collection) every week and we make sure we always have my home-made kimchi on the side.

What are your favorite Korean dishes? Choose 3, please!
My favorite Korean dishes are KIMCHI (the ultimate best!!!)…. Bibimbap and Soondubu Jigae… and of course, to add to my top 3, I also love Naengmyeon!

What’s your best Korean dish, the one that everybody compliments you on when you make it?
My husband loves my Kimchi so much (he does love everything that I cook – wink ^_^) and his colleagues who are lucky enough to get a jar each time I make a batch say that it is incomparable to the store bought kimchi.  Because Bok loves my kimchi so much, Jade even made up her own Kimchi song for her Dad (it’s so cute and funny, you should take a look).

Our Jade is extremely a fan of your vegetable pancake recipe.  I make sure I add oyster to it because that’s what makes it smell and taste so good.

I have been complimented by friends and families each time I make my kimchi. I hope you like my photo gallery…..

Because of your inspiration, from now on I will be adding photos of every special recipe I cook on my Photo Gallery.

To my friends who viewed this blog, thank you!

  3. I used your recipe for kimchi as well, making cabbage (yes, cabbage!) kimchi and napa cabbage kimchi, and it turned out great! My family just couldn’t get enough! Thankyou Maangchi, and please continue the great work =)

  4. The foods are looking good! I guess it’s time to try some more serious Korean cooking in my kitchen. Thank you for sharing your passion!

I really loved the pictures, they are so vivid and I can almost smell the Kimchi. The bibimbap looks so good that I just wanted to drive back down to Los Angeles and go straight to Korea town to grab some authentic korean dishes. Do you still make the tofu soup? That is my favorite specially during winter time. Its light, spicy, and satisfying.

Thanks for posting this. Kudos to Jade for the YouTube video. She really is growing up fast. It might be the Kimchi, he, he.
