Irene Loi

Here is my mini interview with my long time reader (since 2008) Irene Loi and  photos of Korean dishes she made. She posts numerous cool photos on her flickr page.

1. What is your name and where do you live?
My full name is Irene Loi.  I was born and raised in Singapore but I live in Hong Kong now.
The hanbok (Korean costume) photo was taken when she traveled to Korea in Oct,2009. She looks like a doll! Pretty!

She says:

The hanbok is a very beautiful dress!..When they dressed me up at the studio, I kept asking them for more hair pins, bracelets, rings, more ANYTHING!  They look so nice!  And I kept asking for earrings but they say that Korean style, no earrings!  Only Chinese style has earrings!  I was like “OK, no wonder!  I am Chinese!” Many people including the staff at the hotel where I stayed were so helpful and nice. They told me that I looked absolutely Korean in those photos!

2. What do you do and how many family members do you have?
I am now a stay-at-home-wife (no kids) and I live with my husband.

3. How often do you cook Korean food following my recipes?
I usually “repeat” the same recipes once or twice a week.

4. What are your favorite Korean dishes?
I like japchae and bibimbap (it is too hard to name coz I like so so many of them!!!!!!)
japchae (stir-fried starch noodles with vegetables and meat)

5. What’s your best Korean dish, the one that everybody compliments you on when you make it?
My husband and my helper (and her friends) haev eaten my homemade Korean dishes. They love it!

spicy stir-fried fish cake (uhmook bokkeum)

potato side dish (gamja jorim)

sauteed sea plant (miyeok julgi bokkeum)
