This week our Korean food fan is Meagan Kaiser. Check out her photo! Red hand covered with kimchi paste! It looks like she wanted to say: “Hey everyone! I am posing for this photo while making my kimchi! Don’t be afraid of my spicy hand!” : )

She has been making delicious Korean food for years for her Korean boyfriend and herself. She says: “I have cooked almost all your recipes since starting to date a Korean man 5 years ago. You have also helped me communicate with his parents who speak mostly korean… I have even hosted kimchi making parties and taught my friends’ house. Now I am learning the language and watching way too many dramas… you are awesome so keep it up!”

What is your name and where do you live?
Meagan Kaiser, and I live in Dana Point, CA.

Tell me about the first time you ever tasted Korean food. Where were you, and what did you eat?
I started dating a Korean-American man and I wanted to throw him a birthday party with Korean food. I had never had Korean food before so I found used a bunch of recipes from Maangchi and had him taste the food to make sure I was doing alright. I made bulgogi, spicy grilled pork, stir fried squid and many side dishes like spinich, bean sprouts, anchovies and tofu…and of course kimchi!

How often do you cook Korean food?
At least 2 times a week!

What are your 3 favorite Korean dishes?
Naengmyeon (cold noodles), yukgaejang (spicy beef and vegetable soup), and samgyeopsal gui (grilled pork belly).

What’s your best Korean dish, the one that everybody compliments you on?
Probably Kimbap because it is what I make most for friends new to korean food. I am pretty good at rolling them now!
