This time our Korean Food Fan is Ting-Yi Wang living in Germany. She often makes jjajangmyeon for her boyfriend Martin. Isn’t she lovely? Check out all her wonderful, delicious looking Korean dishes. She is a busy student but I can see that she’s always interested in making delicious food and studying at the same time. Good luck with your studies and Korean cooking!
What is your name and where do you live?
My name is Ting-Yi Wang and I am originally from Taiwan but I am currently living in Leipzig, Germany. I am pursuing my graduate studies in Global Studies.

Tell me about the first time you ever tasted Korean food. Where were you, and what did you eat?
My first time encountering Korean food was in Taiwan, in a Korean restaurant but I got a chance to visit Seoul in 2007 and my Korean friends took us to very nice Korean restaurants, we had Bulbogi and Korean BBQ, we also tasted the Korean spicy fried chicken and Jajangmyeon, as well as gimbap and bibimbap. I loved the street food, the spicy rice cake!
How often do you cook Korean food following my recipes?
I cook Korean food at least once a week because my boyfriend, Martin also loves Korean food. He loves jjajangmyeon so I make this dish at least once or twice a month. This Sunday we are going to make our own kimchi for the first time!
Martin and me! We both love spicy food and I know your website through my Austrian friends. They also make Korean food often!
Hoddeok made with two different fillings: brown sugar syrup filling and rasins
What are your favorite Korean dishes? Choose 3, please!
My favorite Korean food is kimchi, jjajangmyeon and bulgogi, but I also love bibimbap and mandu!
What’s your best Korean dish, the one that everybody compliments you on when you make it?
I think it’s jjajangmyeon because I made once for my flatmate, Aaron and he loves it, too! Martin also loves jjajangmyeon and it really surprises me that two German people are not afraid of the black sauce and enjoy the delicacy of jjajangmyeon :)
One of my favorite dishes, jjajangmyeon!
Pan fried tofu with spicy sauce. We love tofu and we really love this dish!
