This is the Gungjung-tteokbokki :궁중떡볶이 that i made for dinner tonight.. It was a very easy recipe to follow, and the taste was great. I used sliced fresh rice cake instead, which i bought from korean supermarket, and also used shiitake mushrooms instead of white mushroom (cause i didn’t have the white mushroom available at home).. My mum and brother enjoyed the Gungjung-tteokbokki (my mum asked me to translate the recipe for her) ^^ thanks for the recipe, Maangchi.. I will try the spicy tteokbokki version in my next cooking ^^

I made the japchae for family dinner tonight.. My korean friend came with a whole roasted suckling pig, complete with vegetables, kimchie and dipping condiments.. Both japchae and roast pork were the favourite dishes for dinner.. Even my dad, who says does not like korean food (maybe he has the perception that korean food are spicy) liked the japchae.. He said “this noodles are restaurant-bought?” Hahahahha… I can’t stop smiling listening to his comments.. My young niece also loved the japchae.. I showed her your youtube video which demonstrated how to make the dish.. Too bad i was not able to take picture of the japchae as i was rushing cooking it for dinner..
Earlier this morning, i woke up so early and was not able to be back to sleep.. So eventually i woke up and made some rice cake soup.. It was easy to make and turned out to be so delicious.. I had some for breakfast, and i sent some to my korean friend.. He liked it and finished them all ^^
I am going to try making yukgaejang and spicy grilled pork.. I will share with you the result (if you don’t mind) hahhahaa.. I am very happy and excited to find your website and being able to learn korean cooking.. Kamsahamnida !! ^^
It looks very delicious!
Hahaha thanks Maangchi.. Today i made the hot and spicy version for lunch ( i made it in the morning at home, then bring them to office for lunch ).. I shared them to my friends, and they loved it.. Two of my friends said my cooking (and the sauce) is very nice and much better compared to the ones they buy in restaurant (and the instant sauce they buy in korean supermarket).. I was so flattered and really happy to have you as my korean cooking guru.. Hahaaha.. I am going to make japchae tomorrow for family dinner.. Wish me luck ^^
That’s really awesome! Good luck with making delicious japchae, too!
