Aloha, from Kāneʻohe, Hawai‘i!

Not even close to a new user of this site, have been following Maangchi for years. I’m half-Japanese and I’ve lived in Hawai‘i since 1973 when I started high school. I have been fortunate to have enjoyed tons of delicious food at local Korean restaurants – including the best broccoli I’ve ever eaten in my life, which was served as banchan, a free side dish. Perfectly steamed, dressed with a little sesame oil and salt. I’ll remember it forever. I love seeing Maangchi’s videos and trying some of her recipes. Because of Hawai‘i’s large Korean population, we are fortunate to have easy access to ingredients she commonly uses.
