So, I just bought some doenjang yesterday and I noticed today that there’s an expiration date on the back (which was about a month ago). I was of the impression that soy bean paste took a while to expire… so, is this still good to eat?
Thanks!

Your post inspired me to go check my doenjang’s expiration date. Turns out it was almost a month ago :) But it looks, smells and tastes fine so until my senses tell me otherwise, I’m going to take my chances.
However, I bought this current container nearly 7 months ago. If your doenjang was already expired when you bought it, I’d take it back to the store. It was probably sitting on the shelf for months.

Thanks for your response! My main problem is that I won’t be able to go back to the Korean super market for another 2 weeks…

My last tub was over the date too for many weeks, but i didn’t worry. It looked and smelled good, i think harmfull bacteria will have a hard time surviving in there.
Anyway, the beachu doenjang guk tasted great with it.
