Finding fresh ginseng in Raleigh, NC?

  Does anyone know where I can find fresh ginseng around Raleigh, NC? I have tried several different places in Raleigh and Cary. One person gave me fresh ginger when I asked if he had any (which left me very confused).
  It it normally this hard to find?

  Same problem here, in Paris, France.
  I really want to try the Samgyetang recipe but it’s impossible, I can’t find fresh ginseng !
  Fresh ginger, yes, fresh galanga, yes, fresh herbs, yes, fresh turmenic, yes, but fresh ginseng, no.
  I also tried online… but no.

  scoot, you’re just now getting into the ginseng harvest season in the Appalachians (September through December), so hopefully it’ll become a little easier to find. If you can’t find a specialty store closer by, I’d recommend taking a day-trip out to a ginseng farm, as the competition for foraging the wild stuff is pretty fierce.
