Hello! So I bought this korean gochujang for a while now and just recently I forgot to keep it inside the fridge. And when I open the seal this morning, the texture of the gochujang seem pretty weird. It used to be thick and sticky but now its texture seems to have changed. However I didn’t find any mold or weird smell coming from it. So my question is should I still keep it or just throw it away? Is the gochujang still edible?

“when I open the seal this morning, the texture of the gochujang seem pretty weird.” I’d like to know more detailed information, but as long as there is no mold, you still can use it. Be sure to refrigerate it.

If it doesn’t smell or look too weird, I don’t think it’s bad. Many products are required to have a “best before” date, it doesn’t mean the product is not good anymore, but it may become less optimal (texture/color may change). Maybe taste a tiny bit if you’re familiar with the taste to judge whether it’s good. The only gochujang I’ve had gone bad so far was a homemade one with pieces of meat mixed in it.
