I just found your website and I am SO excited to finally start cooking Korean food! I lived in Korea for a year and absolutely loved it! A friend of mine used to take me to the little restaurants where none of my other American friends would eat! I tried everything at least once and it was hilarious to see the looks on the faces of everyone around us! They couldn’t believe an American was actually eating the food. I was already "fluent" with chopsticks and that was another source of topic with my Korean friends! It was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life and I’d love to go back and visit again!
I’ve searched the site and found most of the dishes I was looking for but I haven’t been able to find one specific type of soup. They called it ‘Pumpkin’ soup in Korea but I’m not sure if it was made with actual pumpkin or squash. It was a very simple, had only a few ingredients, the two main ones being ‘pumpkin’ and shrimp. It was my favorite and I have searched for a recipe since I got back with no luck. Any thoughts?

Hiya Mischelle, welcome aboard.
Maybe you’re looking for hobakjuk?

Hi, welcome to my website! Stanford, thank you very much for your contribution to the forum. But I think MichelleM sounds like another dish called “hobak guk” (pumpkin soup). I make the soup with zucchini, shrimp or dried anchovies, and other seasonings. I will include the soup in the list of my upcoming recipes. Thank you!
