Can you help? For Christmas I’m going to give my in-laws a Korean cooking starter kit, and some recipes. I have a list of items in mind, but I’d like some suggestions from the community. I live in Sweden and there few fresh ingredients available, so I’m limited to things that store a long time. What are your suggestions for both ingredients and recipes? Thanks for the help.

Rough list:
– Maangchi’s book (there’s a list, too!)
– Gochujang
– Doenjang
– Roasted Sesame-oil
– Korean Soy-sauce
– Sesame-seeds
– Fresh Ginger (keeps very good in the fridge – years even! You may freeze it, too)
– Leek with roots (keeps longer than Spring Onions, but they keep well with roots and in sand at room temperature, too)
– Garlic
– Onions
– neutral Cooking-oil
– Radishes
– Chinese cabbage
(and/or self-made Kimchi)– Dried Kelp
– Dried Anchovies, different sizes
– Nori
– Dried Seaweed
– canned Tuna

Sanne, thanks for the help! That was about the list I had too, but I hadn’t thought about anchovies. Swedes love preserved fish, so it’s a good one.
