Hello Maangchi and ALL Food Lovers on this site!!! I LOVE Kimchi (and sauerkraut and spicy foods) too!!! I have no idea where my love for it came from either. I honestly can't even remember where I first tried it. I think I saw something on tv - of it being made or introduced - and decided I NEEDED it in my life. It's been a love affair since! However, based on what I heard about a Korean co-worker teaching a non-co-worker how to make Kimchi, I decided I didn't want to give myself food poisoning and avoided trying to make homemade. It wasn't until I encountered Maangchi on Utube that I decided I could give it a go! Three days later - Here I am! I currently live in Idaho and after a few days of exploring the channel, I saw Maangchi make a "potato pancake" on Utube and left a comment there, where I also told her that her "Spicy Steamed Stuffed Eggplant" video made me cry. I promised to buy her cookbook even though I'm not a meat-eater. I was interested in the stories she shared in it and for the basic recipes she's included - especially "Korean Rice Liquor (beer)" (I'm not a beer-drinker but I LOVE the idea of making homemade brews! And always willing to try anything once!!!) I'm a long-time organic gardener who's about to move to Vegas (USA) (Summer 2018). I'm excited to try growing Korean veggies and herbs now - Thanks to watching Maangchi use them!!! I love your heart and passion Maangchi - and hope to one day have you sign my copy of your cookbook!
