Hello Everyone….I am delving into making my first batch of Doenjang and cannot locate the charcoal. My local contacts do not carry it and I cannot find the right charcoal online. If anyone is willing to part with a few pieces, I will certainly pay for the charcoal and postage.

It’s used for bbqing – but if you don’t want to use that, you may use activated carbon instead…

I used whole wood BBQ charcoal. Wrapped it in cheesecloth to keep it in one piece. It worked.
