water dropwort

Minari has crisp stems, leafy tops and an herbal flavor. It tastes a little like parsley. It’s sold in the vegetable section of Korean grocery stores. Choose minari with plump stems and leaves that are fresh looking and green, not brownish at all.

Fresh minari is not always available, so when I see it, I buy it straight away. It wilts quickly, so be sure to use it within a few days.

minari (water drop wort: 미나리)

When you bring it home, wrap it in a sheet of newspaper or paper towels, put it in a plastic bag, and keep it in the refrigerator until ready to use. Parsley can be substituted. There are many kinds of plants called “water dropwort” in English, and some of them are poisonous! But don’t worry, minari is not dangerous at all.

Hi guys. If you’re from Malaysia or Singapore, water dropwort is called daun selom here, you can easily get it at the morning market. In Indonesia I believe it’s called tespong. Hope that helps

I don’t think so. Chinese parseley and minari are different. I think you can find “water dropwort”(minari) at a Korean grocery store.

  9. Hi Maangchi,

I wanted to make Spicy Fish soup and wonder whether Minari refers to Chinese Parsley? Is it a very fragrant plant used widely by Vietnamese?
