This time our Korean Food Fan is  Javi Madrazo López from Spain! His first taste of Korean food was samgyeopsal gui prepared by his Korean friends in Finland! Ever since then he’s been a Korean food lover and he also started making his own Korean dishes at home. He says: “I really love your website and I enjoy watching pictures of your food!”

I can tell he is really great at cooking Korean food. Check out the smooth texture of his jjajang sauce, his beautifully wrapped and displayed mandu, his crispy zucchini pancake, and his songpyeon rice cake! We can peek at the filling inside, it’s a mixture of nutty ground sesame seeds and sugar. He must have steamed it with the pine needles because we can see them in the background of the photo. Amazing!

Nice meeting you, Javi and keep letting us know how your Korean cooking goes.

What is your name and where do you live?
My name is Javi and I live in Valencia, Spain.

Tell me about the first time you ever tasted Korean food. Where were you, and what did you eat?
My first time was in my Erasmus in Finland where I have met a few Korean friends. It was a sharing dinner of the different countries and the korean girls prepared ssamjang with pork meat, oh god, it was sooo delicious and I felt in love with the Korean food.

How often do you cook Korean food following my recipes?
More than once a week I try to eat Korean food, and maangchi.com is one of the principal places that I take a look if I have any doubt.

What are your favorite Korean dishes? Choose 3, please!
Aehobak jeon (애호박전), Mandu (만두) and Galbi Tang (갈비탕).

What’s your best Korean dish, the one that everybody compliments you on when you make it?
I think that Yangnyeom tongdak and Mandu are the most successful recipes when I cook Korean food for friends.
