Maangchi's cookbooks

Which to get? I suggest my second book, Maangchi's Big Book of Korean Cooking because it has the most recipes, but my first book has recipes for all the essential Korean pastes and sauces!

would it be okay to still use the hot pepper flakes to make gochujang? i cant seem to find any that have a lower price for postage and i also cannot find the two brands mentioned at to top.
what would happen if i use the coarse red chilli flakes?
Hello Maangchi, I am vegan and I tried to make kimchi tofu stew using vegan kimchi. I think I made a mistake when I made the chili paste. It was way too hot. is there a mild chili powder you recommend.
Maangchi i think i made mistake for buying red pepper powder istead of hot pepper flakes. I want to make kimchi. Can i use that red pepper powder to make kimchi like you use hot pepper flakes? Will it be different for the taste of my kimchi? Thank you Maangchi… i really need your help. God bless you.
Yes, you can use hot pepper powder instead of hot pepper flakes when you make kimchi. Only difference between flakes and powder is how finely they ground.
Hi Maangchi,
Is this only used to make gochujang?
yes, it is.
I think I saw in one of your videos you mentioned some hot pepper powder that was very hot and some that was very mild. I was at a Korean market yesterday, and they had quite a few types of this ingredient. But I couldn’t tell how hot they were. I love things super spicy but my family doesn’t. So I wanted to get some hot and some mild. But I couldn’t at all tell how hot each was. Is there any way for someone who can’t read any Korean to tell how hot it is?
