I love many different banchan that sell at the market. I often buy then until I discovered your website and it has helped me a lot in making them myself at home. However, there is this dish called seaweed salad that make up of shredded seaweed, black fungus mushroom, shredded cucumber, red pepper flake, some white celphalone pieces along with sesame seed and sesame oil. I often see this dish in some Korean BBQ restaurant too. My question is how do you make this dish? do they sell fresh shredded seaweed at the market since I can’t find them at the Korean market near my house. Thank you so much for all the video and recipes that you have posted.

Hi!
I think I know what you mean by this seaweed salad. According to some it is of Chinese origin, or a Chinese interpretation of seaweed salad, and it is called “chuka wakame” that contains a lot more ingredients besides seaweed. The translucent pieces you talk about is probably agar. Perhaps these websites are useful:

By the way, I am a great fan of this website, and it has already given me tons of information on Korean cooking. Keep up the good work Maangchi!!!!
