Hi Maangchi!
I tried browsing your recipes and looking at your forums but haven’t found anything. I have been searching for years! Yes years, for a recipe for the spicy galbi jjim my husband and I both love. We often go to the restaurants like Sun Nong Dan for this dish which is their specialty but I would really like to start making this at home because it can be quite expensive for just 2 people. It comes in a large pot with galbi ribs, potatoes, rice cakes and a thick spicy sauce (we get the maximum spice level they offer) I saw someone post about this before but they mentioned kimchi, this dish does NOT have kimchi in it, it is exactly how a galbi jjim is except it’s really spicy. Please, please help I am really looking forward to getting a recipe for this dish! - March 2, 2016 at 11:22 am #67013sanneParticipant
The question was from Lenach, I tried to find a recipe – and I now know I did, thanks to the name you’ve mentioned!
That name translates as “spicy galbijjim”, but the more usual word for “spicy” is “매운”.
The catch is – the recipe for 매운갈비찜 I’ve got is in Korean…
And there are neither potatoes nor rice cakes in that one.베비로즈의 요리비책
The ISBN is 978-89-509-0836-2
The recipe is on pages 104 to 105.Bye, Sanne.
