I’m so speechless and hungry when I saw your Korean dishes. All look very amazing and tasty!
Dank zij jou. EN natuurlijk dank zij Maangchi!
( very free) Translation which unfortunately does not reveale the ‘double bottom’ in the dutch text:
Reinier, I do know you thanks to your mother. En therefore am very happy. You connected me with the lovely Maangchi, she’s not only lovely, bur furtheron very ‘usefull’, for my cooking that is…
Maangchi, you are great in your cooking. But especially on the photo with Reinier, in Rotterdam, appearing as a real Dutch woman!
Love to both of you and a great ‘thank you’, also meant to ‘mother Medusa’ (as I know her via Hyves)
Frans
Good job making the Chamchijeon Frans! Maangchi is a great teacher and her recipes awesome, what more do we want? :)
Very Impressive photos!! I can feel your heart and passion on cooking!! Well done!! :-)
I’m so impressed!! Salivating at the sight of the photos! :)
Could you give me some advice on how to go about shopping for the ingredients? My husband and I have just moved to The Netherlands (in Leeuwarden) and I am just learning how to look! I used to love going for Korean food back home and it would be great if you could give me some pointers cos I really miss Korean Food :( My fav is Kimchi Jigae!
Thanks!!
Shopping for Korean ingredients in the Netherlands is relatively easy, but you live in Friesland and korean shops are not so abundant there…. Maybe online shopping is the thing for you? http://www.koreashop.nl
You can always look here too if you want to travel a bit: https://www.maangchi.com/shopping#Netherlands for the real Korean stores.
In Groningen there is an Amazing Oriental store which might be handy for vegetables and perhaps some basic korean ingredients (don’t a huge selection). In Leeuwareden i don’t know any store for you.
WOW~ awesome pictures of yummy food!
They ALL look good! : D
yum….
Reinier,i m sure ur spicy soft tofu stew taste great…
I’m so impressed by your dishes! My fiance can’t even boil water without burning something. :) Had I only seen the photos, I would have assumed that the dishes were made by a Korean. They’re very lovely and look delicious. Kudos.
Thank you for your kind words, when i left my parents house i couldn’t boil an egg… so if i can do it anyone can, your fiance too i think :)
that’s awesome reinier!!! you are (almost) as good as maangchi! ;) makes me so hungry to see all the meals you’ve prepared–especially the bibimibap! that looks like going to a restaurant :)
Deborah, thank you for your nice words about Reinier’s cooking skill. You, too! Your samguypsal gui (pork bell bbp) preparation photo is one of the most popular photos on my website! http://www.flickr.com/photos/25668526@N07/4063946858/in/pool-maangchi
Here’s for the (Dutch) people who use Hyves.

Hi Tony,
I don’t speak Korean and i’m a little over 6’2′ :) But i love making good food and Korean food is so good.
Many people, and especially Koreans i meet around here don’t understand why i make this food.
I love making Korean and Maangchi is a great teacher!
Reinier
Reinier,
Gratz! You already have your own fan Tony! lol
WOW!!! Once I overheard my mother watching some Korean videos. When I came into the room I was shocked. It was a 6’4′ white male speaking with Lee Joo Il,(RIP) a famous Korean talk show host and former Korean politician. He spoke PERFECT inner-city Seoul Korean dialect. He had lived there forever and spoke phenomenally good Korean.
It’s the same here. Reinier took incredible pains to make those pictures. Incredible looking dishes! Great Job. Based on your food pictures NO ONE would believe you weren’t Korean… until they saw your picture. :-)
Congratulations and keep on cooking. I’m sure it tastes wonderful. You truly are a world citizen!!!!!! :-)
Maangchi ajumma is great isn’t she?
Tony
