Hello everybody!

Some of my readers have already contacted me about my global cooking show and invited me to their homes to cook. ooh whoo! Exciting!

I’m still in the planning stage for the show. I’m going to post details soon and let you know how to join it, but one thing I can tell you is that filming will probably start in September or October when everyone has finished their summer vacations.

I will travel around the world and cook with my viewers. I pitched this idea to YouTube in March for the NextUp program, and they chose me to join the program. Being chosen as one of the 25 YouTube Nextup creators and joining the creators’ camp at Google has been the most fascinating experience that has happened to me so far this year!

But this year hasn’t finished yet. I’ll have more fascinating and exciting experiences when I meet as many my readers and my YouTube audience as I can, all around the world!

But please help me choose a name for this show. Here are some ideas so far. Do you have any other creative names?

  • Maangchi’s Global Cooking Show?
  • Planet Maangchi?
  • Maangchi’s Travel Cooking Show?
  • Maangchi, Gabsida! (Gabsida 갑시다 means “let’s go” in English)

In my experience, the more people who are brainstorming ideas, the better.

If you have a good idea for a name, please write it in the comments. If you like one of my ideas above, or one of someone else’s idea, write a comment about it: “I like xxxxxx’s suggestion!”

    “Korean Cookin’: With Maangchi”
    “Miles with Maanghi”
“만국의 망치” xDDD ?? Would that even be right?

Those were just a few of my ideas. xD

I have prepared most of the recipes from your three cookbooks. They are superb!
I also have lost a great deal of weight while enjoying the flavors and textures of Korean Cuisine.

I like Maangchi Gabsida! I would love to have you over to my house in Minnesota! I’m an adopted Korean and didn’t get to have anyone teach me how to cook Korean food. I didn’t even know about Kimchee until I was in college! I love cooking, so I’ve been exploring your website and finding so much inspiration to teach myself how to cook Korean food. I now have a daughter and am trying to get her starting loving Korean food at a young age, as well as trying to get my husband to try new things. :) So far so good! Good luck to you in your show!

All of the names are great!
    How about “Maangchi’s Magic” ?

  19. hgpig1 Davis, California joined 6/11 & has 1 comment

It has to have “Maangchi’ as the first word since that is how we all know you. And gabshida /kapshida would be the last word in a Korean sentence since Korean is a verb-final language. And it needs to be short & sweet. So my vote is Maangchi Gapshida. And like most everyone else, I’d love to open my kitchen to you if you are in Northern California. I love your welcoming, casual approach to cooking (and life). I’m excited for your show, congratulations~!

  20. How about “Traveling SEOUL”?

  21. gaa129 North Jersey joined 5/11 & has 4 comments

I really like these names, they all mention that Maangchi is about Korean cuisine/cooking which i think is AS important as being cathcy:

    1. “A Taste of Korea with Maangchi, Gapsida!”
    or
    2. “Gapsida! A Taste of Korea with Maangchi!”
    or
    3. “Taste Korea with Maangchi.. Gapsida!”

I’m so proud of you Maangchi, especially as a fellow Korean, for introducing the world to Korean cuisine! You are great =)

I like “Maangchi Gapsida!” too. It covers the travel aspect of the show and anyone who knows of you will know that you love to cook. Put that together and you have a show about you traveling and cooking.

How about “Maangchi Katchi Gapsida! (같이 갑시다=let’s go together)” I think this would help to let audience know that you aren’t just cooking in other people’s homes, but you’re cooking with them (laughing, joking around, creating good food, and spreading the love for korean food and culture). Those who watch the show will feel a deeper connection to you and the food by seeing how you don’t have to be a professional chef (or some superstar) to make good, meaningful food. Well, that’s just my thought. Hope you succeed and I’ll be rooting for you! MAANGCHI HWAITING ^__^

I really like the last one you suggested, Maangchi, Gabsida! It is short, catchy, and helps teach people a little Korean, too! I will try to pop back later and see if I have any ideas–but if you want, please come to my kitchen in Saudi Arabia! I just moved here from Washington DC, and one of the first things I made in my new kitchen was your mak kimchi (but there is no napa cabbage, so it isn’t as good). Right now I have soybeans soaking for kongjang. I know I should learn how to cook the local cuisine, but I love your recipes too much!

Hi Kenneth, if U ever find yourself in Dubai…let me know! I just made my cabbage (napa) kimchi yesterday! How interesting to read your blog…I’m quite new to Maangchi’s website but already I am a fan! I made a red bean paste hoddeok for my children yesterday, it was yummy! My 22 month old son wanted more, more!

I like Maangchi Korean Cooking, Gabsida!
