This time our Korean Food Fan is Lisa Williams from California!

What is your name and where do you live?
My name is Lisa Williams and I’m from Long Beach, California.

Tell me about the first time you ever tasted Korean food. Where were you, and what did you eat?
I am half korean so my first Korean food was when I was very little. I remember my mom giving me rice with a little water in it. She would then add little strips of Napa cabbage kimchi that she had rinsed off so it wasn’t so spicy!!

How often do you cook Korean food following my recipes?
I try to make Korean dishes as often as possible. At least a few times a week. My mother never really had the time to teach me how to cook traditional Korean dishes (she owned an American restaurant). When I began to crave my favorite Korean foods I would search out the recipes on the internet. I found your site and used your recipes as my starting point. Most of them taste just as I remember but sometimes I tweek them just a little to remind me of Mom’s!

What are your favorite Korean dishes? Choose 3, please!
At our home we love Bibimbap, Japchae and Galbitang!

What’s your best Korean dish, the one that everybody compliments you on when you make it?
My favorite dish to make is Spicy dried squid. My mom says it is even better than hers!!
