This week our Korean food fan is Henry Snow from California! He’s a dietary aide who went to culinary school and loves cooking, which I’m sure you can tell by looking at his food photos. Let’s give him a warm welcome!

Henry Snow

What is your name and where do you live?
My name is Henry, and I live in Santa Barbara County!

Tell me about the first time you ever tasted Korean food. Where were you, and what did you eat?
I lived in Koreatown, Los Angeles, for two years, after living in downtown LA. Across the street from my apartment was this, hole-in-the-wall restaurant: Woo Ree. It was small and cozy, and it felt authentic to me. The food and the flavor was nothing I’d ever seen or tasted, which sparked my curiosity of Korean cuisine, culture, and future shopping centers! (lol)

How often do you cook Korean food?
It’s July of 2015 now. I just recently found Maangchi’s YouTube channel, halfway through the month, but so far I have made a few things, all from watching her videos and I am inspired!

What are your 3 favorite Korean dishes?
I really like pajeon, because it’s so simple and goes good with rice…oh, kimchi would be another favorite, too! I really like bibimguksu, because of the chewy somyeon noodles, and though it isn’t a dish, I really like makkegeoli!

What’s your best Korean dish, the one that everybody compliments you on?
So far, the few people who have tried my Korean cooking, enjoy my fresh kimchi, because it is cold, crispy, and spicy!
