My father was a westerner, so when I was born my mom decided not to use the traditional form of naming children according to the generation. For example, my male cousins all had Young in their names. When their daughters were born they all had Min in their names. When the last girl was born my cousin couldn't think of what to name her, so he just named her MIN!

But my mother decided to create a name for me. It means eyes that see only beauty.

Hello, my name is Adrian and I live in Phoenix Arizona. I had taken an interest in korean culture when I saw my first korean movie in New York. I was visiting my uncle there in queens and the neighborhood he lives in has many koreans. One night late, I was looking through the channels and saw a movie on the local station called Chi-Hwa-Seon (Painted Fire) with Choi-Min-Sik. Anyways, from that moment I was hooked to korean culture. Now I watch many korean movies, shop at the local korean market. I also love the food! Thank you for all the videos you are posting on youtube they are all great!

My Korean name is Ashimi. My mother passed recently, and I realized I hadn't gotten all her recipes, so I searched and found your site. I was quite pleased. However, my mom came to the US in the 50's, at a time when there was difficulty getting some ingredients, so if I make a nuisance of myself by giving advice to people who have a hard time finding things in the grocery store, let me apologize in advance.

I think you are doing a wonderful job, informing people of a very flavorful and exciting cuisine. I can see that you are trying to accomodate everyone's palate so that as many people as possible can try the flavors.

Your Oi sobagi recipe is better than my mom's, and she never showed me how to make Yukgaejang. I am so impressed that you made Song pyung! I had to go to Philadelphia (and order weeks in advance) for my children's 100 day parties!

Many of the recipes I use are quite different, and I wonder if it might be because of the region you come from. I am quite a "foodie" and often read cookbooks for fun (my kids think I am weird) but I am interested in the regional influences on food.

I know this may be before your time, but my aunt is Chun Sonnyo, who was a rather well known actress in Korea, and I of course am much older than you, but we never stop learning, and I am so happy to have found your site!

Hola my name is Jenneida and I'm only 19. I'm Dominican and Puerto Rican leaving me with nice flavorful food but at the same time in large amounts it can be very bad for me. I love spicy food and have always been attracted to Asian food in general but i have always been more of a baker until i found this website. One of the women from a group of knitters and crocheters gave me the website. I'm very thankful for this website because it made cooking food much easier.

Hello to everyone from Texas!
Maangchi Just wanted to thank you for all your wonderful recipes!
I saw your cucumber kimchi recipe on youtube and I’m so grateful. I’ve been trying for years to make this and couldn’t find a good recipe. My mom tried to tell me her way it just never came out good when I made it. Your way was so simple and tasted good as soon as I made it (I Literally did a dance when I tasted it!) I’m so glad I don’t have to depend on the premade foods at the Korean store any more.

I live in Houston and my mom lives in New Jersey, I miss her Korean cooking so much. I have for the most part remembered all the dishes she has made but I always had issues on cucumber kimchi and cabbage kimchi. I tried to make cabbage kimchi about ten times and half the times it comes out in eatable. So I am so exited to make my very own cabbage kimchi.

I love all your videos and I know everyone tells you, your cute well… you are.

You’re a Star!
